Arrived in Brest - message from skipper Niall MacAllister

We finally left Adrigole on Monday and headed for Crookahaven moorings to begin Jessy’s long migration south. New boy Richard slotted right in and is a great member to the team.

Tues am we left the mooring at 6am and sailed out passed the Fastnet to a glorious sun rise and slight north wind.

The good fortune continued up to the evening when the wind suddenly increased to 30 knots with the main on the preventor and full Jib poled out Jessy was screaming down the waves at up to 12 knots. Time to get some canvass off. The jib furler jammed and Steve and John had to go forward to un free it. Things were getting a little hairy as Jessy was becoming more and more difficult to control as the swell increased but we sorted everything and settled down to a bumpy night with 2 reefs in the main and half the jib.

Not much sleep was had and basic functioning became a feat with everyone quickly learning not to try to multitask like make a sandwich while trying to drink a mug of tea.
Life down below might not have been great but the sailing was fantastic with Jessy regularly hitting 9 10 k knots on the log.

John feels he might be pregnant as he and Simon (sleeping in the for peak) were tossed around so much together that there must have been some exchange of ------well lets not go there!!!

Toni needs a full length mirror to get the most out of his new white shirt he brought along for the trip and poor Steve was hypnotised by the binnacle compass during the night and succumbed to very bad sea sickness.

We arrived in Camaret at 2 am thur and Steve went to the toilet and came back looking a lot better.

Having a day off today exploring the sights will leave for La Coruna tomorrow.
