All cosy and safe in La Coruna

Hi All
Well we left Veverio yesterday and sailed along the north coast of spain for La Coruna. We had to leave at 6am as the wind was due to increse during the day from the South West and we all have had enough of beating into a heavy atlantic swell so the early start was the better option. We arrived in La Coruna at a bout 1600 UT the first time arriving in aport in daylight.
the port of La Coruna is huge and we were trailed by a medium sized coaster which stopped to pick up the Pilot on the way. Everyone is putting onto practice their lights and shapes etc knowledge. We went to the inner marina this time as it is closer to the town and makes life a bit easier getting around however the swell from the passing fishing boats can make it a bit uncomfortable.
The boys have decided to take a couple of days off and explore this bustling old town which has a strange combination of old grandure and very modern business skyscrapers. The town itself dates back to the early roman times and was used as a major trading post by all of Spain's invaders from Romans to Moors to Napoleon. The Ria which runs about 10 miles away from the Atlantic is well secure from the big Atlantic sea swell, which seems to be ever present on this coast. The Light house on the promentary is reputed to be the oldest in the world.
Will sign off for now but hopfully will be able to send some picts later.

Niall
