Greetings from sunny Portugal.
We didn't leave Madeira until Saturday as the wind on Friday was a little bit on the strong side. Thankfully the wind shifted and we had a lovely reach for the first 2 days. We even got the spinaker up!! Great couple of days sailing. We had lovely weather, although at night it was cold and a bit damp so we all ended up in our oilies. We made it in 4 and half days which was great, we had thought that with the NE trades we'd be beating up for about 6 days!
We arrived yesterday (Wednesday) evening after some engine issues! We managed to get her parked with the engine still going thanks to the skippering skills of Philip. We also had loads of dolphins on the bow for ages on the way into Cascais.
First thing off the boat yesterday the 5 smelly sailors went for a well deserved beer and 3 beers later even went for showers!! Then it was steak on a stone for everyone and maybe 1 or 2 more beers before bed.
Today has been a lovely relaxing day off. Once the laundry was sorted we went walkies. Cascais is a lovely town and myself and Philip spent most of the afternoon people watching on the prom!!
Back to business tomorrow with the boat cleaning, engine fixing and picking which ports we'll be visiting over the next few days before the big handover at the end of the month.
