Lanzarote - at last!

Marina Rubicon by night; One of Europes highest cliffs @550m; Magical sun set.

John makes his mark at Peuro Calero; Nuns Valley; Nuns Valley @1053m .

hello something for the blog no the photo of the turtle didnt turn out sorry about that.

Well after our long sail to Madeira, we had a welcome few days off to relax clean jessy and explore the island.

Myself richard and Steve decided to take a taxi tour of the island, which i can recommend to anyone. Our guide and driver was a very nice man, a bit mad and for some reason enjoyed touching richards leg.

We were taken to the nuns valley where we we looking over 1000m down, apperantlythe nun have plenty of time on there hands so they make cake and liquior, which we tried of course.

Next we went to one of the highest cliffs in europe over 550m looking into sea very impressive and if you have any fear of heights it might not be a good idea to get to close to the edge.

Then we were taken for a local drink which if you have 1 or 2 your fine but if you have 10 you will be speaking the local language while doing the chicken song, so we had to try it after that, but we did only have the 1.

We had a fantastic sail to Lanzarote we had 14-15 knots of wind on our beam the whole time so apart from charging the batteries the engine didnt get a look in, and we were charging along at 8 knots most of the time.

The weather was dry but cloudy but it didnt matter that we had no sun cause the sailing was so good.

Toni was skipper and you could tell because he gave himself all the easy shifts, so while the rest of us were being dragged out of our bed at 2 or 5 in the morning toni made sure he didnt have to get up to 8am, he will pay for it!!!!!!

The night sailing was good fun but with no moon or stars it made finding the waves a little tricky but after 10 min on the helm everyone got the hang of it and we were able to get some sleep without being thrown about to much

We made good time to Lanzarote and were met by 27 knots of wind on the nose comming into the marina, we were expecting the wind to increase but its amazing the strength that it gets up to.

So after what seemed like an age getting in we got sorted out showers etc then headed of for a beer, then things got slightly more exciting when G+T's started and 6 Gins to one bottle later and i am surrounded by dead bodies while im typing this, toni and i stuck to beer and were glad we did this morning.

Well thats all for now enjoy the pictures.
