News from the Crew Monday 4th December

Hi All

Its 11hrs local time here in Loctudy on the southern side of the Brittany arm, a ver pleasant little town with a very large marina and fishing port. We arrived here on Sat eve late after a super sail through the Raz de Seine and around the Point de Penmarch. The Raz lived up to its reputation as we arrived at slack water and yet the sea was still quite confused. Michael Sean and Betene had spent the previous evening playing cards etc until the very wee hours so needless to say none of them were up for much and certainly didn’t seem to be enjoying the sailing. Betene slept through it all.

Dec finally managed to catch up with us in Camaret and its great to have a full compliment once more, he of all of us enjoyed the sail from Camaret to Loctudy the most. He is in fine fighting form and is keeping us entertained with stories of bygone days.

We have been in Loctudy for a few days now and once again everyone is itching to get a move on but the weather is not being kind. We had a serious blow come through on Sunday night where we thought the whole marina was going to come loose. There are little pockets of good weather in between the blows but nothing long enough for us to get to La Coruna. We are now making plans to take a Jump to Santander on the north spainish coast if we can get 30hrs clear if not we may well have to creep our way down the French coast, who knows?

Showers laundry topping up the diesel cleaning the boat and such are the order of the day today and maybe go out for a bite to eat tonight.

Bye for now

Niall

Hi Niall,

Enjoyed reading about the trip, had a lovely weekend down with Gail and the boys weekend befor last. Borrowed your bike, Christ it is like driving a tractor! Mind you my own is not much better, rear wheel is slightly buckeled, had much difficulty trying to cycle up Glenmacnass last Saturday. This Sat we will stay off the mountains and cycle to Wicklow town wia the coast road from Greystones. Note to self fix bike. Going hiking on Sun. Really missed you in France, but I guess you knew about Eoghan and Caoimhe giving me a surpise visit, I was thrilled to see them, we had brilliant weather, really dying to show you the place. Could Jessy sail up the Canal du Midi? What does her keel need? The Minervois vinyard is on the canal and about an hours drive from the house. Any way enjoy your trip and talk to you soon. Gook luck to all the crew. Jackie
